Supporting Local Ecotourism Ventures

Supporting Local Ecotourism Ventures

In line with our mission to promote community-driven tourism initiatives, we've been actively supporting local entrepreneurs in unlocking the potential of ecotourism on our island. Through workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions and ongoing support, we’re empowering community members to showcase Roatan's rich cultural heritage while creating alternative livelihoods.

This approach diversifies our tourist market and reduces the strain on marine ecosystems by offering sustainable economic opportunities. In the past few months, we've assisted in creating four up-and-coming ecotourism ventures in the communities of Crawfish Rock, Corozal, Black Creek (The Point), and Gravel Bay. We're on a mission to promote community-based tourism, offering community members a chance to benefit from the tourism boom in Roatan.

By supporting their ideas and partnering with like-minded organizations, we hope to help these communities create enjoyable and sustainable tourist experiences while ensuring lasting economic and environmental benefits for both communities and ecosystems. We contribute to the island's long-term prosperity and ecological health by fostering a strong, community-driven tourism sector.

diversifying tourism while protecting the reef is exactly the kind of long-term thinking Roatan needs. For the entrepreneurs building out these new ecotourism experiences, especially those documenting tours or community events for marketing, it's worth keeping local visitors' privacy in mind when sharing photos and video publicly. A free tool like blur face in photo makes it easy to protect the identity of anyone who didn't consent to being featured in promotional content.
