About Reef Ally
The Reef Ally Program is a unique opportunity to work together and increase conservation efforts in the Bay Islands National Marine Park, one of Honduras’ most valuable ecosystems.
Through this program, we play a fundamental role in protecting coral reefs, the habitat of threatened marine species, and in promoting sustainable tourism practices in the region.
Since 2005, we have been at the forefront of conserving the marine ecosystems connected to the Roatan Reef.
We are a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing together knowledge and resources to safeguard the environment.
Our Programs
Marine Patrols
Our marine patrol team works hand in hand with the Honduran Naval Force to enforce environmental laws in the waters of Roatan.
Research
We gather vital knowledge from our marine ecosystems to drive stronger conservation actions. Among our most impactful initiatives are coral restoration and the creation of the first ex situ coral incubation laboratory, an innovation that brings new hope for the future of Roatan’s reef.

Marine Infrastructure
We install and maintain dive moorings, channel markers, and swimming zone buoys to protect our reef from damage caused by anchoring and boat collisions, practical solutions that help safeguard Roatán’s marine life for generations to come.
Community
Development
We provide local fishers and coastal communities with diverse livelihood opportunities that reduce dependence on marine resources. Through workshops, seminars, beach clean-ups, training sessions, and collaborative initiatives, we foster new skills, shared responsibility, and a stronger culture of conservation.
